MLM Training From Aces Radio Live – Using Your Social Marketing Skills to help local businesses get better exposure online.

Now here is a new thought… Use Your Social Marketing Skills By Going  Local!

Future Now IncBy now, I bet you can track some of your growth to your Social Marketing skills, and know the basics of the business, how about taking your skills to your local (warm) market?

Most brick-and-mortar businesses know their niche inside and out, but in many cases they don’t know how to market their business effectively, which is proven by the statistics we find at the SBA, when it comes to businesses that fail within five years. of their launch.

Sure, they do what their competition is doing, but they don’t think outside the box, and the reality of it all, is they don’t have time to learn about Social Marketing. You, as an experienced Social Marketer, can help them in ways they may never even imagine.

So what should you do to get started?

1. You have to realize what local businesses need is NOT an education in Social Marketing. They need to hire someone (YOU) to look at what they’re doing with fresh eyes and a willingness to listen to them. The worst thing you can do is walk into a small business with a “business in a box” solution.

Avoid making the same mistake that many wantabe Social Marketing gurus make: You must build a product or service, then check to see if anybody is already buying something like it. Do your market research first. Locate the hungry buyers for marketing and promotion. A local Internet Group would be great. If you can’t find one in your community start one. I just joined one on Facebook, now we are meeting locally.

Troy’s Truth: You need to know what their perceived problem is before you offer any solutions.

2.    Do your due diligence, and study the niche of your potential client. You won’t have to dig to deep to find who their competitors are and what they are doing to market their businesses. One easy way to start your market research is to look at Yellow Pages books and business directories. Look at the big display ads, these are your potential clients biggest competitors, because they are paying BIG money for yellow page ads, which are antiquated.

Full-page (or large) display ads cost a lot of money (and for the most part are infective in today’s market place.) In fact, the amount is usually so much that they are paid for on a monthly basis. All you have to do is call or write to the local publisher of the phone book and find out the monthly fees for advertising in their publications.

3.    Look at the small ads, these are the businesses you want to start with. Now do some quick checking online to see if any of these businesses are using Social Marketing, review their websites and create a cheat sheet you can refer back to on each competitor.

4.    Pick out your first three potential clients
. Review their websites, marketing channels, and you might even run by their business to grab any printed marketing they have created.

5.    Now You’ll be able to approach them with confidence
. Show then how your Social Marketing skills, applied to their business and marketing plan, can really boost their revenue.

Avoid using Social Marketing “jargon” when speaking to these businesses. Remember, they know their business. They don’t know about autoresponders, split testing, affiliate links, analytics for Web pages, etc. You’ll just make what you do seem foreign to them.

Instead, find out what their business and marketing plans are. Help them target their most profitable merchandise, products or services. Find ways to help them improve the marketing of any underused capacity or products they have.

Think of their needs first, before you offer any solution. You’ll be more likely to get a new client and get more money every month for helping that client.
