Every person I have ever met is chasing a DREAM in their life. Something that burns deep in your being!
Yet most of us listen to other people and we stop short of fulfilling our Destiny.
In this article, I am going to share the Five Elements you need to add to your life in order to realize your Destiny…
In 1963 Norman F. Dacey published the first addition of his book, “What’s Wrong with Your Life Insurance, a powerful best seller that exposed the scams and deceptions of the life insurance industry. In his epilogue, he wrote.
“Where, now will the American people find a champion willing and able to harness the strength of this financial giant? Who will lay the present sorry mess open to the light of day? Where will we find a man with the temerity to face these latter-day “untouchables,” to stand in the path of this juggernaut and cry “Halt”?
When he is found and takes the job and does it, he will never be forgotten for he will have brought the American people more financial independence and self-respect than a hundred years of Social Security.”
In 1968 due to a series of remarkable circumstances, a small South Georgia football coach read this book… And in 1977 He realized his destiny and fulfilled this prophecy.
His name… Arthur Lynch Williams Jr.. But the world came to know him as A.L. Williams the founder of Primerica Financial Services!
It’s Art’s story that I want to use to share with you the Five Elements of a Dream.
• D = Dedication
If you want to realize your Destiny and see your dreams come true, you have to be completely dedication. We had an unwritten law at A.L. Williams Never Showed Doubt… Never showed Quit! Art was completely sold out to our Crusade. We were giving hope and opportunity back to the American People. Because of his dedication, we were dedicated!
You have to realize you’re in the game of your life. It’s not a team sport; it’s between you and the person in the mirror. If you waver at all, you loose. You have to get up every morning knowing you are going to win and win big.
Troy’s Truth: You have to be totally sold out to reaching your dreams, and not allowing anyone to steal them from you, most of all the person in the mirror.
• R = Responsibility
It’s funny as I look at the network marketing profession today, I see so many distributors pointing fingers at everyone and everything but themselves for their lack of success. If you are doing this then stop right now. You and only you can decide if you win or lose. You can’t blame your primary company, your upline, downline or anything else.
Either you are Dedicated to the Win… To reaching your dreams and fulfilling your destiny, or you aren’t. But either way you decide!
In the early days of A.L. Williams, there were three times when we were within 24hrs of closing down, loosing our underwriters, and not being able to get commissions out fast enough. Did we blame others or slow down in spreading our crusade? NO! All three times Art would get up share the cold hard facts and rally the team. We took responsibility and continued moving forward.
The third time this happened Art got all the top leaders together and said “Let’s build our own company.” Everyone chipped in and we never had to worry ever again about having a strategic partner leave us high and dry!
Troy’s Truth: Your success at the end of the day is your responsibility, and yours alone!
• E = Education
It’s funny how many times I hear distributors today talk about duplication. Yet, I hear from Networkers daily who don’t feel like they are successful. Have you ever stopped to wonder why? I have!
It’s all in the theory of duplication! Let me ask you a question. How many times have you told your kids, or if you don’t have kids think back to when you were a kid. How many times did someone tell you “Just do what I tell you to do, and everything will work out just fine?” My dad use to tell me all the time “Do what I tell you and you won’t get in trouble.” I tell my own kids the same thing today. Yet it never fails, they have to go and get an education on their own! And every now ans then, they prove me wrong!
If you want to realize your destiny and capture your dreams, you have to be 100% dedicated to gaining the wisdom you need to win.
I have never met a person who is realizing their destiny, or living their dream who did it duplicating someone else ALONE. Everyone one of them took what they were told and built upon it. They furthered the duplication, gleaned more wisdom and they grew forward.
One of the things I have always loved about the greatest leaders in Network Marketing is they never stop gaining a deeper education, greater wisdom, and moving closer to fulfilling their Destiny.
Troy’s Truth: Duplication alone is a myth, you can’t duplicate someone else’s personality. You can duplicate the system, but you have to be yourself.
• A = Attitude
Most of us have heard the old adage “Attitude is Everything!” Well that is another fallacy! Attitude isn’t everything, but is does matter and can give you the edge. I learned a long time ago that attitude will make the difference in winning or losing; but having a great attitude by itself would not allow us to win.
We can have the greatest attitude in the world, but if we surround myself with dull, negative disillusioned crybabies, who are always seeing the glass half empty our attitude will not help us.
But, if we take the principle of the Law of Influence, and surround ourselves with positive, realistic people who are willing to always come together to find the right answers we will win! Together we will realize our destiny and reach our dreams.
If you are a person who seems to always see the glass half-empty, then turn the cup over! Now you have a completely empty glass that you can fill with positive focus. You don’t have to worry about not having room to make a change in your attitude.
In the first 10 years at A.L. Williams we were surrounded with negative crybabies. It seemed like very day some regulator, Insurance agent or newspaper was printing something negative propaganda (not facts) about us. So Art decided to use everything that was written as a new marketing tool.
He had our printing company create two volumes about 50 pages each of everything they could find that had a negative spin to it. He then made it available to each of us to use in the field.
It was the greatest thing he could do to keep our attitude focused forward. See every time we went to replace a policy and the old agent come in to tell our new clients how bad we were and show them everything that had been written. We would pull out the same piece and then show what had been the final disposition. In every case but one we had WON! It would blow away the competition every time! Within 10 years we were doing more business than the top two companies together… and they were each over 100 years old.
Troy’s Truth: If you can’t change the people around you, then change the people around you!
• M = Motivation
This can be a little tricky, so listen up. In order to realize your destiny and reach your dreams, you have to not only stay motivated, you have to become a master of motivation with those you lead.
In other words you have to keep the main thing the main thing… Building Relationships! From the leadership at the old A.L. Williams company to the current leadership at Starbucks, great leaders know you have to connect with those you lead and serve.
Although true long-term motivation comes from within, the catalyst is always connecting with others. You have to be 100% motivated to putting others first. Serving your team, your customers and your family is the final ingredient to realizing your destiny and reaching your dreams.
Troy’s Truth: Motivation starts by liking the person in the mirror. If you don’t like yourself, then how are you going to motivate yourself to build relationships with others?
So in closing I want you to write down the following…
1. You need to surround yourself with people who will give you enough energy to chase your dreams.
2. Your dreams need to be huge, bodacious! Dreams so BIG people will say “You’ll never do that.
You also need to have the following eyes!
Eyes of Possibility
Eyes of Wonder
Eyes of a Child
Now, with that said, I want to leave you with one last thing…
There are 86,400 seconds per day. What would happen if we treated each one as if they were worth $1.00?
We’re each given 86,400 opportunities each day to realize our destiny and reach our dreams so go for it!
